For technical reasons our last AgriAfConsult mailing reached very few of our international clients and hence this repeat with some important updates.
As it has attracted several responses, the Wine Farm in the Swartland has increased its tonnage of grapes in the 2015 harvest from 800 to 900 tons. The Game Farm, which according to the people we’ve spoken to, is a good proposition at the price is now under serious discussion with 2 potential buyers. And we think the Greek Renewable Energy Company has found the African partner they wanted. May we remind you that we are making Omega’s Research Paper on Investment Trends and Opportunities in Africa available to South African companies at a special price, given the rand's exchange value.

Last year, Omega marketed Stellenbosch and Hermanus, from all accounts with considerable success. Omega’s most recent initiative of this kind is the international marketing of the Tulbagh town and district. Tulbagh is one of the most beautiful little towns in the Western Cape, and the third oldest town in South Africa after Cape Town and Stellenbosch. It is set in the heart of the Cape Winelands, 90 minutes from Cape Town in a scenic mountain basin.
Tulbagh is full of business opportunities, and Omega has undertaken this initiative on behalf of the local authorities, the biggest civic group, the Stakeholders Association and the Tulbagh farming community. Our goal is to enable the full development of these opportunities. In association with Tulbagh organisations we will host a series of workshops in specific areas of interest, followed by a major development conference on Saturday 6 June 2015 at the Morgansvlei Country Estate. This workshop will develop a strategy in conjunction with interested parties for capitalising on Tulbagh’s strengths and encouraging small business, and dealing with local issues of unemployment and inequality, in accordance with the National Development Plan. f you think you have read this before – you are right. We published it early in January. But we believe it warrants repeating now that we are all – or most of us hard at work. The catchy slogan above reflects the service Omega is offering. Aside from our strong presence in the Western Cape, we have increasingly come to recognise from our investment workshops the many benefits and attractions which the Western Cape offers internationally and the rest of Africa. This was demonstrated in November by the two-day workshop Omega initiated and organised, which Old Mutual hosted in Cape Town on business opportunities between Nigeria and South Africa. The high level of Nigerian participation and active interest in investing and doing business in the Western Cape, which the workshop attracted, surprised the organisers. It confirmed our thinking that within Omega we need a unit which focuses in a concentrated and specialised way, less on promoting what the Western Cape has to offer - after all, the Western Cape Government's Department of Economic Affairs, the Cape Town Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Accelerate Cape Town, Wesgro and similar organisations already do this very well. What our experience and client-base tells us is that there is a need to respond to specific trade and investment enquiries, often small-scale, arising both locally and internationally. We are providing this service. See the briefing document at the end of this mailer.
